Patch on Bourke

Pauline and Judy... the team at Patch On Bourke

Judy

I opened Patch on Bourke in May 2005 after retiring from a career in nursing. I am fairly new to the craft, starting around 5 years ago after searching for an activity to occupy myself in retirement. I saw an ad for a beginners' class in patchwork, so enrolled, not really sure that this was what I was after.

WHO WE ARE

Well it took 2 beginner classes to get me hooked. After that I did many classes and joined a small group who supported each other in their endeavours.

I find patchwork more of a challenge and love the results. I am addicted to fabric, no different to most patchworkers.

Pauline

Pauline is a new-comer to Goulburn having moved from the South Coast with her husband 1 year ago.

We were very lucky that her husband and Judy's daughter work together and set up the meeting of the patchworkers. She has been patchworking for over 20 years and bring a great knowledge and an abundance of patience to Patch on Bourke.

Pauline teaches Patchwork classes at all levels, along with machine quilting, machine applique, tatting, candlewicking, handpiecing and the list goes on.

On opening the business, Judy's objective was to do something she enjoyed, as she found doing nothing in retirement wouldn't be enough for her after a busy working life.

Patch on Bourke offered something that would challenge her and provide a service not available in Goulburn. Like minds attract and soon Judy and Pauline were a team.

Before Patch on Bourke, people had to go out of town to buy quality patchwork fabric. Since starting the business, the support has been great and Judy and Pauline can now offer the same support and help to the public.
